6. Baby Casiraghi (and possibly a wedding?)
Tatiana Santo Domingo is expecting her and Andrea Casiraghi's first child in January 2013. Andrea Casiraghi is the son of Princess Caroline of Hanover, daughter of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco. The newborn child will be third in line to the Monegasque throne after Princess Caroline and after Andrea Casiraghi as Prince Albert has no children of his own that can legally inherit the throne (no pressure Charlene).
The pair is engaged to be married and some have said that they will likely be married in 2013.
5. A Royal Wedding in Luxembourg
|Prince Felix and Claire Lademacher|
The Grand Ducal family of Luxembourg will marry off yet another prince this year. Prince Felix, the Grand Dukes second eldest son, is set to marry his fiance Claire Lademacher this year. A royal wedding, tiara event with lots and lots of gowns and jewelry? Yes, please! But hold on, this means that there is only one son of the Grand Duke who is unmarried... hurry up girls!
4. A Double royal birthday in Norway
|Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon|
Both Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit will turn 40 this summer. Haakon on 20 July and Mette-Marit on 19 August. Perhaps we will see a big summer celebration in Norway this summer!
3. King Carl Gustaf's Jubilee
On 15 September King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden will celebrate 40 years on the throne. Another tiara and evening gown filled event with royals from around the world to look forward to! We can only hope Carl Gustaf will do as good as Queen Margrethe of Denmark did last year!
2. Baby Cambridge
If you are a royal enthusiast like myself you probably know by now that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, are expecting a baby this year. The baby will someday inherit the throne and become a Queen or King of The United Kingdom. As an heir or heiress to the UK throne, a daughter of Kate Middleton, great grand son or daughter of Queen Elizabeth and a grand son or daughter of the late Princess Diana this child will be the most famous and most watched person of the world from the day it is born. I am looking forward to seeing if it will be a boy or a girl and also to know what the baby's name will be.
1. A Royal wedding in Sweden
At last Princess Madeleine will get her prince! On 8 June Madeleine and investment banker, Chris O'Neill will tie the knot in Stockholm, Sweden. Of course this is another fancy tiara, evening gown event to look forward to but besides that I am looking forward to see what Madeleine will choose to wear on the big day, what tiara see chooses, who she will ask to be her bridesmaids, if she decides to have bridesmaids at all and so forth and so forth... Another blog post on that later.
What are your top royal events to look forward to in 2013?
