The Love Bracelet is a famous and popular piece of jewelry from Cartier which was designed in 1969 by Aldo Cipullo. The bracelet is famous for its locking mechanism. Every Love bracelet comes with a screwdriver which is used to lock the bracelet on the wearer. The screwdriver can in turn be worn as a pendant by the giver to signify the committed love between the giver and the receiver. The bracelet can actually be opened with any slotted screwdriver so the supplied screwdriver does not act as a security key for the bracelet. The Love Bracelet comes in a variety of editions: Gold, Silver, Bronze, with diamonds, without diamonds etc.

Princess Madeleine used to live in hers which was a gift from her ex-fiance, Jonas Bergström. Jonas is said to have wanted to get something special for his girl when they were going out so he turned to Madeleine's father, King Carl Gustaf, to ask him for advice. The King had once given a Cartier Love Bracelet to his wife, Madeleine's mother: Queen Silvia, so he allegedly advised Jonas to buy such a jewelry for Madeleine. Jonas did and sources say that Jonas kept the screwdriver which comes with the bracelet and gave Madeleine the bracelet. Interestingly enough, since the bracelet can be removed using any slotted screwdriver, Madeleine kept hers on long after she and Jonas split up. In late August 2010, to the wedding of Prince Nikolaos of Greece to Miss Tatiana Blatnik, Madeleine still had the bracelet on even though the two split up late April the same year. Needless to say, Madeleine has long removed her Love Bracelet and has not been seen wearing it for many years nor will she probably ever again.
